History
History can give us a fuller understanding of ourselves and of our common humanity so that we can better face the future.

At North Fawdon Primary School, our intent is to instil a lifelong curiosity and fascination about the world and it’s history. We want our pupils to understand our local history set in a context of our countries history and global history. To understand chronology and be aware of how different civilisations were developing at the same time and at different times. To learn the value of historical sources and develop their understanding of historical enquiry and interpretation.
Historical content is divided into five strands: Chronology, Range & Depth, Historical Interpretation, Historical Enquiry and Organising & Presenting.
All history lessons are underpinned by ‘big ideas’ or key concepts. These are:
