Geography
At North Fawdon Primary School, our intent is to instil a lifelong curiosity and fascination about the world and its diverse population in our pupils. We want our pupils to understand their place in the world and the relationships between people and their environments.
Geography lessons are planned to ensure that our pupils see their own lives reflected in the curriculum and that they develop an understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes, and the current issues, both locally and globally, relating to geography.
Geographical content is split into four strands: Location Knowledge, Place Knowledge, Human and Physical Geography and Geographical Skills and Fieldwork. Fieldwork allows pupils to explore and appreciate the world around them, whilst applying key learning and skills.
All geography lessons are underpinned by key concepts. These are:
