How do we support complex SEN?
• Working as a team is key to supporting complex needs.
• A Multi Agency Meeting (MAM) can be requested by school. A representative from the Local Authority SEN Team attends to discuss pathways for our children and families this is usually in cases of EHCP or ARC referrals (see below)
• Leadership meetings can be held to discuss routes and funding (see below)
For Complex Needs: 3 Options can be available depending on circumstances, diagnosis, evidence and advice.
Individual Pupil Funding (IPS) School can apply for funding for a short term period whilst assessments are being carried out.
ARC Referral There are different types of ARCs for the following needs: Autism, Social and Emotional Mental Health, Physical and Speech and Language.
Education Health Care Plan - EHCP - Information can be found on the Local Offer for Newcastle. This pathway is a legal document for children aged 0-25 years old.
